ORANGE – Just after 3 pm multiple callers reported seeing smoke and flame coming from the side of the house in the 2500 block of N. Waterford St in the city of Orange. Units responding reported seeing a large header 3 miles out. Once arriving on scene fire crews went into an offensive attack to try to salvage what they could, however the fire quickly traveled into the attic and eventually through the roof. A partial roof collapse forced fire crews to evacuate and pull into a defensive attack. Crews managed to get a hold on the fire after about an hour of continued stream of water. The homeowner and her cat were home but were not injured and exited safely. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
