APPLE VALLEY: Fatal Rollover TC

A rollover traffic accident in Apple Valley late Friday night has left one person dead. The accident occurred just after 10:00 PM in the 21800 block of Hwy 18 (between Navajo and Pawnee). According to radio reports, the driver of an older Jeep SUV drove into a drainage ditch before rolling onto Hwy 18. It appeared as if the vehicle was heading eastbound on Outer Hwy 18 before turning into the ditch and then flipping over onto the highway. One person was ejected from the vehicle. Arriving Apple Valley Fire paramedics pronounced the victim deceased on scene. A SBSO helicopter was searching the area for an unknown reason. The unconfirmed report of someone on scene indicated that the driver of the SUV may have fled the scene.
