A violent T-bone traffic accident in Apple Valley has claimed the life of one person. The accident occurred just before 7:30 in the intersection of Bear Valley Road (23300 block) and Joshua Road. The accident involved a full size Dodge Ram pick up truck and a small Chev Sedan. The accident occurred just after the conclusion of the Super Bowl. It is not known whether alcohol played a role in the accident. The pick up truck was heading eastbound on Bear Valley Road when the sedan pull out in front of the truck. The east/west speed limit on Bear Valley is 55 mph. A long stretch of skid marks can be seen in the roadway leading up to the impact point. A second person in the sedan received only minor injuries. The driver of the pick up truck was transported to a local hospital for treatment. SBSO Apple Valley is conducting the investigation. Apple Valley Fire also responded and pronounced the driver deceased on scene. Bear Valley Road between Hwy 18 and Central Road will be closed for an extended period of time for the investigation.
