On Thursday November 29, 2018, while many braced for flash flooding as an Autumn storm impacted Southern California, Big Bear was gearing up for the much needed snow. Snow levels dropped to roughly 5,000 feet requiring motorists to chain up along Highway 18 between Sky Forest and Big Bear. According to the National Weather Service, 2-3 inches of snow fell in the area from Thursday to early Friday morning.
