Carolina's Border Crash w/Entrapment | CHARLOTTE, NC 1.17.21

CHARLOTEE, NORTH CAROLINA – CMPD, MEDIC & Carolina Volunteer Fire Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a single vehicle accident with entrapment. The accident was reported in front of 17131 Lancaster. Because the crash was right on the NC/SC Border between Charlotte & Indian Land, Fire & EMS personnel from both states responded. Pleasant Valley Fire Department (SC) & Carolina Volunteer Fire Department (NC) arrived and found a dark colored Infiniti M37 with heavy damage. Fire officials said 2 of the 3 total victims were pinned inside the crushed vehicle. Additional resources including Charlotte Fire Department, Lancaster County EMS & Multiple Mecklenburg EMS units responded. Firefighters had to pop the driver side door of the vehicle to extricate both trapped victims from the car. Sources say the car was traveling northbound on Charlotte Highway (US-521) when it struck the Welcome to NC Sign and lost control. Mecklenburg EMS confirms they transported 2 patients to Atrium CMC with serious injuries. Lancaster EMS transported the 3rd victim to a hospital with unknown injuries. CMPD Shut 2 of 3 lanes of US-521 down going Northbound as they investigated the crash.
