CLEVELAND NATIONAL FOREST: Holy Fire

On Monday afternoon August 06, 2018 a brush fire broke out in the Cleveland National Forest. The fire dubbed the “Holy Fire” rapidly grew to over 1,000 acres and was threatening structures in the area of Trabuco Creek and Holy Jim Canyon roads. By 8:00pm the fire was 4,000 acres, zero percent contained and advancing towards Lake Elsinore and unincorporated Corona. As of 8:00pm the following areas were under evacuation orders: The Holy Jim Canyon, Trabuco Canyon Recreation Residence Tract, Blue Jay and Falcon Campground areas. Ash from the massive blaze was raining down on homes and dry vegetation in the Horse Thief Canyon area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
