SAN DIMAS – At 4:30 pm LACOFD received a 911 call of a person that jumped off a cliff into a river at San Dimas Ave and E Arrow Hwy. Once firefighters arrived on scene they located an adult male suffering from back and rib injuries from the jump. The LA County Fire Department requested a helicopter to hoist the victim out of the canyon and transport to Pomona Valley Hospital with minor injuries. After speaking wife of the victim, we learned her husband and two sons convinced him to go on a Father’s Day hike in the canyon and told hime there’s a clif you could jump into a river. The wife said that the her husband and the sons were jumping into the water and when the father jumped, he noticed his son below and tried to avoid landing on him. The dad turned his body a different way to avoid impact with his son and that’s when he hurt himself. The sons were able to make it out safely and were not hurt.
