Monday evening, firefighters came to the rescue of a man (about 45 y/o) who had fallen as much as 30 feet down an empty elevator shaft in Downtown Los Angeles. The building and the elevator itself were under construction. Security for the construction site reported hearing noises, then they found the man at the bottom of the shaft. The man was not a construction worker and did not appear to have permission to be there. Firefighters hoisted the man to ground level where he was put in an ambulance and taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries.
