DUI Driver Passed Out Behind the Wheel and Blocked in by PD Units / Pomona 5.13.20

POMONA – A 911 call at came in at 10:59 PM of a male passed out behind the wheel of a White BMW at a stop sign and non-responsive at E Alvarado St and N Caswell Ave. Pomona Pd officers were the first units on scene and noticed a white BMW that was stopped at the intersection of East Alvarado st E Caswell Ave with a male driver that was none-responsive. Officers banged on the window several times to wake the driver up. Pomona Pd positions their vehicles in front and back blocking the driver in so when he wakes up he does not take off leaving the scene. Firefighters arrived on scene and knocked on the window several times. Los Angeles County Fire department had to break the passenger side window to make entry inside the vehicle to make sure the driver was breathing. The driver eventually woke up and started texting and tried to start the vehicle and take off, but Pomona Pd was able to get the driver out of the vehicle. The driver seemed to be under the influence and out of it at the same time. He was resisting and fighting with the officers, officers were able to get him into custody and calm him down as firefighters checked him out. Pomona Pd had their DUI expert come out to the location to do a DUI test on the driver. The driver of the white BMW started to comply with the officer but refused to continue on with the test and refused to blow into the DUI test kit. Unknown at this time if the driver was arrested for DUI or under the influence of drugs.
