HIGHLAND PARK: Driver In Custody After Leading Police on Slow Pursuit

A man is in custody after leading police on a slow pursuit in Highland Park this morning. It started in Boyle Heights when, according to scanner traffic, police received a call of an armed man making threats to the caller. When officers arrived, they spotted the man fleeing and that is when the pursuit began. The driver circled a small residential neighborhood in Highland Park, until stopping along Avenue 52 and Granada Street. It took police about 10 minutes to get the driver to comply. He was later arrested. No weapon was found or seen. The driver was the only occupant of the SUV.
