CHINO – Once firefighters and deputies arrived on scene they located a garage with heavy smoke coming from it spreading to the house. Firefighters had a hard time getting access inside to the house and into the backyard due to the residents having security doors and security gates. Firefighters had to break open the garage door to get access to the garage. The San Bernardino Sheriffs Department evacuated nearby residences. Once firefighters gained access to the garage the fire spread to the front room of the residence. After about 20 minutes firefighters were able to gain access inside the house. A elderly lady lives there but was on vacation and was not home at the time of the fire. Unknown at this time how the fire started.
