House Fire / South LA 3.17.20


SOUTH LA – A large fire ripped through a residential property and is under investigation at this time. The fire was believed to have started in the rear of the property and quickly jumped to the home and caused extensive damage. The property may be considered a total loss. Although everyone appeared to have escaped without injuries firefighters may have been searching for a family cat. Bystanders stated that the backyard appeared to be cluttered at times and that there were a number of shade canopies and possibly an RV on the property. The actual cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but Hazmat was on scene to help assess the situation.

This incident involved automatic aid between county and city firefighters. LACOFD is investigating the cause of the fire at this time.
