LINCOLN HEIGHTS: One Dead After Fiery Crash

One person is dead after a fiery crash in Lincoln Heights overnight. Witnesses say they saw the driver of the silver sedan speeding before it crashed into a pole along Mission Road and the 5 Freeway around 8:45 PM Wednesday night.  The car bursted into flames. Paramedics tried to save the driver, but was pronounced dead at the scene. Mission Road between Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Marengo Street was shut down as authorities investigated the crash. It has since reopened. The cause of the crash is unknown. The victim’s identity has not been released, pending next-of-kin.
