On Tuesday afternoon, January 07, 2020, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of human remains found in or near a burned vehicle in Reche Canyon. Here is what we have been able to piece together: The incident was reported around 4:40pm along Reche Canyon Road, roughly two miles west of Locust Street. Burned remains and a burned SUV were located on a dirt path south of Reche Canyon Road and east of High Country Drive. Deputy Flores with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department would only confirm that deputies were conducting a death investigation in Reche Canyon where burned remains were located but would not provide further details. The scene remained guarded overnight until Investigators with Cal Fire and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department arrived around 9:30am Wednesday morning and assumed the investigation. A burned SUV was seen in a riven with crime scene tape around it as investigators photographed the scene. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has refused to provide any further details to the media at this time.
