RIVERSIDE: Apartment Fire

On Saturday night July 07, 2018 the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to multiple reports of smoke coming from an apartment unit at Corona Pointe Resort. The Fire was reported around 10:40pm in the 3900 block of Pierce Street near the 91 Freeway. The first arriving engine company reported smoke and fire showing from a down stairs apartment unit. Firefighters were able to make a quick and aggressive fire attack and contain the fire to the downstairs unit. According to the tenant who lives above the effected unit, she was packing to catch a flight in the morning when she smelled smoke. She first figured her downstairs neighbor must have burnt food. A Short time later her smoke detector went off and she was unable to silence it. When she opened her front door to see if anything was burning, she saw nothing but smoke in the hallway and ran out with just the clothes on her back. Firefighters were able to assist her with getting her luggage for her trip however, due to smoke in her apartment she was not able to immediately return.  No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The American Red Cross was requested to the scene to assist the displaced occupant.
