RIVERSIDE: Brush Fire

On Saturday afternoon, September 07, 2019, the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a vegetation fire in the Canyon Crest area of the city. The fire was reported around 2:21pm at Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Park. The first arriving engine company reported brush burning in medium fuels being fanned by afternoon winds. A second alarm was requested as the fire quickly advanced towards surrounding structures. As the fire continued to rapidly spread a third alarm was requested as well as aircraft and additional resources. The fire quickly burned roughly 250 acres. The blaze was burning near the same area where a fire burned over 200 acres in early July. No injuries and no evacuation orders were reported. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
