RIVERSIDE: Custom Auto Repair Shop Fire

On Tuesday afternoon October 16, 2018 the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a commercial structure fire near the Corona / Riverside border. The fire was reported at 12:45pm at Intense Auto in the 12300 block of Doherty Street. According to Battalion Chief Jeff Delaurie with the City of Riverside Fire Department, the first arriving resources reported heavy smoke coming from the custom auto repair shop and a second alarm was requested. The fire appears to have been a result of a vehicle, inside the structure, which caught fire. Firefighters had to force entry into the business and were able to contain the fire itself to the one vehicle however, several other vehicles sustained smoke damage. A Pit Bull, which was being used as a guard dog, prevented Firefighters from accessing the side yard of the business until the owner arrived and secured the dog in his truck. No injuries were reported and the cause of the vehicle fire has yet to be determined.
