RIVERSIDE: Elderly Couple Robbed

Late Saturday night, October 26, 2019, the Riverside Police Department along with the City of Riverside Fire Department and AMR responded to reports of a robbery with injury near the University of California, Riverside. The robbery was reported just before 10:30pm at the Sunrise Village Apartments in the 3900 block of Iowa Avenue. When officers arrived they located an elderly male and an elderly female in the parking lot of the apartments. While the male appeared to be uninjured, the female was transported to an area hospital for unknown injuries. According to the female victim, a group of guys approached her in the parking lot of the apartments, called her a b**ch and stole her belongings. The elderly couple may have been leaving the clubhouse of the apartments, after a gathering, when they were robbed. Unconfirmed reports indicated three males fled in a van with roughly 3,000.00 worth of karaoke equipment. One resident said she thought she heard a gunshot but that information has not yet been confirmed. Residents at the complex say they have asked management to hire security however, they claim management says the cost of security is to high. No further information was immediately available.
