RIVERSIDE: Man Arrested After False Kidnapping Report

On Saturday afternoon February 09, 2019 the Riverside Police Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle with a 2 year old boy inside. The reported kidnapping occurred around 3:30pm in the 8900 block of Haskell Street. The victim told Police he drove to Riverside from the Kern County area to purchase a car. While on a test drive in the car he wanted to purchase, the female who drove to Riverside with victim, drove off in his car with 5,000.00 cash and his 2 year old son. Police were about to issue an Amber Alert when the victim confessed that it was his dog and 5,000.00 cash that his companion drove off with. The man was then taken into custody for filing a false police report. It’s unclear if the female companion was ever located.
