Late Wednesday night August 22, 2018 the Riverside Police Department along with the City of Riverside Fire Department and AMR responded to multiple reports of an assault with a deadly weapon in the City’s East-side area. The shooting was reported around 10:58pm in the 2200 block of Georgia Street. When Officers arrived they located an adult male on the corner of Georgia Street and Eucalyptus Ave. suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via ground ambulance to an area hospital in critical condition. While Officers were at the scene of the shooting, additional shots were heard in the area. Officers spotted a silver SUV, being driven by an adult male, leaving the area and detained the driver at Kansas Ave. and 11th Street for questioning. It’s unclear if the driver was involved in the shooting or was attempting to escape the gunfire. No further information was immediately available.
