RIVERSIDE: Small Private Vigil For Murdered Tow Truck Driver

On Tuesday evening, October 08, 2019, around 7:00pm, a small and private vigil was held for murdered tow truck driver, Jesse Martinez. Jesse was tragically killed on Monday afternoon while he was handling a call for service. According to long time friend, Jose Alcala, Jesse just started his shift when he responded to the call for service in Riverside. His first call of the day was tragically his last. Jesse was gunned down by the very customer he was trying to help. Family and friends say, Jesse was simply trying to prevent the intoxicated customer from climbing onto the bed of the tow truck, as was company policy, when Javier Martinez, pulled out a gun and shot Jesse. As Jesse lay in the street, Javier fled the area on foot. He was located and arrested a short time later, not far from the scene. Jesse, a father of three, Adam, 8; Alan, 5; and Addison, 3 loved his family and worked hard to support them. Family have set up a GoFundMe in Jesse’s name to help with funeral cost as well as to help support his children. Jesse was always known for his bond to family and his children. Friends say Jesse loved being a tow truck driver and loved to help others. Suspect Javier Martinez has been booked for first degree murder.
