RIVERSIDE: Vehicle Vs Utility Pole Rollover Crash With Puppy Rescued

Late Saturday night, December 07, 2019, the City of Riverside Fire Department along with the Riverside Police Department and AMR responded to multiple reports of an overturned vehicle in the Casa Blanca area of the City. The solo vehicle crash was reported around 11:16pm in the 2800 block of Mary Street at Harvest Lane. The first arriving engine company reported a sedan overturned on its roof with one occupant trapped inside. Firefighters were able to quickly free the trapped occupant as witnesses held on to the occupants puppy which had ran from the wreckage. The occupant was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition. Officers with the Riverside Police Department took custody of the puppy and even let the puppy ride on the lap of an Officer as they returned the little pup back to his/her home. The cause of the crash wasn’t immediately known, however, it appears the driver left the roadway, striking and damaging a utility pole before overturning in the northbound lanes of Mary Street. Mary Street was expected to remain closed between Lincoln Street and Victoria Avenue while Riverside Public Utility crews repaired the damaged pole.
