Late Monday night March 04, 2019 a ruptured water main sent a river of mud and water down a major thoroughfare in the heart of the city. The incident occurred around 11:15pm in the 10400 block of Magnolia Ave. Several businesses along the north side of Magnolia along with a mobile home park were flooded between Tyler Street and Polk Street. At one point water was over a foot deep turning the area into a lake. Crews were able to get the water main shut off within 45 minutes however, the flood damage had already been done. Water could be seen coming from the doors of businesses as the water started to recede. The extent of the damage is unknown as the businesses were closed at the time. It’s unclear how the water main broke however, crews were reportedly working in the area at the time.
