Highway 395 in Victorville was closed down in both directions Tuesday evening after a traffic collision between a big rig truck and a sedan. The accident occurred around 5:15 PM when the driver of a gold Chev sedan heading southbound attempted to pass another vehicle and smashed into the side of a northbound big rig. The rear axle of the big rig trailer rolled over the sedan before dislodging from the trailer and coming to rest on the west shoulder. The big rig skid without its axle until it came to a stop on the east shoulder. The accident occurred on Hwy 395 between Bear Valley Road and Luna Road. Highway 395 between I-15 and Kramer Junction (Hwy 58) is known for violent accidents as the forty-one mile stretch of highway has only a few areas to safely pass. Impatient drivers are known to take dangerous risks to get around slow traffic. One twenty mile stretch between Adelanto and Kramer Junction has only one short passing lane.
