MORENO VALLEY: Road Rage Shooting

On Wednesday night July 11, 2018 the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department along with the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a road rage incident with shots fired. According to the California Highway Patrol, around 8:25pm an older silver sedan made on unsafe lane change in front of the victim on the westbound 60 Freeway. The victim, driving a work van, flashed his high beams at the suspect vehicle. Both vehicles exited Heacock Street where at the bottom of the off ramp the suspect pointed a handgun out the drivers window and attempted to shoot at the victim. The gun failed to fire and the suspect chambered a round and fired at least twice striking the victim’s vehicle. One round hit the passenger side of the front windshield and another round struck the radiator. The victim was not struck and the suspect fled the scene southbound on Heacock Street. The westbound Heacock Street off ramp was expected to remain closed for several hours while Officers conducted their investigation.
