RIVERSIDE: Burglary Suspect Pursuit Crash

Late Monday night July 09, 2018 the Riverside Police Department responded to reports of a possible burglary in progress at a business near Fremont Elementary School. The burglary was reported sometime around 11:30pm at a business just south of Fremont Elementary School in the 2000 block of Main  Street. According to Lt. Warren with the Riverside Police Department, three suspects burglarized the business and made off with a safe. When Officers arrived the suspects ran onto the grounds of the elementary school and got into a 4 door sedan. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle however, the driver refused to yield. Officers pursued the vehicle north on the 215 Freeway where speeds reached over 100 mph. As the vehicle approached the 10 Freeway, the driver lost control and crashed, just north of Washington Street, facing southbound in the northbound lanes and the suspects fled from the vehicle. Police were able to quickly apprehend one of the suspects who fled. As of 12:00am Police were still searching for the two other suspects. Per Lt. Warren, the safe had not been located as of 12:30am. No further details were immediately available.
