That is when police say a Nissan Altima crashed into a utility pole and burst into flames. Dramatic video shows the vehicle engulfed in flames just moments after bystanders pulled out the driver and placed him on the sidewalk. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire upon arrival. EMS pronounced the male driver and his occupant dead on the scene. An investigation by the NYPD’s collision investigation squad determined that a Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on Flatbush ave at a high rate of speed when he sideswiped a Ford Edge, ran a red light, mounting the center median, and finally crashing into a utility pole. It is unknown as of yet whether or not the driver was under the influence.
