MANHATTAN: 6 Killed in Harlem Fire

5.8.19 | Video by Adam Balhetchet | HARLEM, Manhattan (DCPI) – On Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at approximately 0141 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a residential fire inside of 2441 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard (Frederick Samuel Houses), apartment #5G, within the confines of the 32 Precinct (PSA #6). Upon extinguishment of the fire by FDNY personnel, responding officers observed 6 persons, unconscious and unresponsive, within the rear bedroom areas. EMS responded to the location and pronounced the 6 aided persons deceased at the scene; they are a 45-year-old female, a 33-year-old male, an 11-year-old female, an 8-year-old male, a 6-year-old female, and a 3-year-old male. The cause of the fire is to be determined by NYC Fire Marshall. There does not appear to be any signs of criminality at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
