11.29.20 | by Adam | GREENWICH VILLAGE, Manhattan – A driver was arrested after he crashed into a police car, injuring an officer. It happened around 1:20 am Sunday at the Washington Square Arch. That is where a Nissan Altima going southbound on 5th Ave crashed into a cute NYPD Smart Car. The Altima driver was initially trapped in the vehicle. Officers drew their handguns, unsure if the crash was intentional or not. Officers restrained the well dressed driver. Two ambulances were requested to the scene. One officer was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and transported to an area hospital. The Nissan driver was walked to an ambulance and transported to hospital in handcuffs with a police escort. A witness stated the driver was intoxicated.
