QUEENS: Fatal Elmhurst Fire

7.29.19 | Video by Adam Balhetchet | ELMHURST, Queens (DCPI) – On Monday, July 29, 2019, at approximately 0259 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a residential fire inside of 88-35 Elmhurst Avenue, within the confines of the 110 Precinct. Upon arrival and extinguishment of the fire by on-scene FDNY personnel, a 50-year-old male was discovered inside apartment #5L. EMS responded to the location and transported the aided male to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced deceased. EMS also removed a 30-year-old male from the location to Elmhurst Hospital Center, and a 36-year-old female from the location to North Shore Forest Hills Hospital; the male remains in critical condition, and the female is in stable condition. All three aided persons reside in apartment #5L, and all sustained smoke inhalation. The Fire Marshall will determine the cause of the fire. The investigation remains ongoing.
